Located in the heart of Huron Village in Cambridge MA for over 20 years.

In the Spring of 2001 the bistro chef who opened Trattoria Il Panino on Franklin street under the ownership of Frank Depasquale took a leap of faith and purchased a tiny 3 table pizza joint from former co-workers Luigi and Giovanni with the name of Il Buongustaio (good taste). Slices of garlic painted pizza topped with chicken and broccoli or artichoke hearts were being made in the front window. On a long counter eggplant parm sandwiches were served. A simple menu with a Coke a Cola sign on the exterior, but this was not going to be your average neighborhood pizza. Djillali brought his expertise of bistro cooking and soon the neighborhood was experiencing a full vegetarian antipasti with hints of North Africa touching the traditional Italian items including a full pasta section, and expanded the tasty combinations of the pizza and sandwiches.

Today it carries the name The Village Kitchen, a name that was chosen in 2004 when the restaurant expanded to a larger space across the street. The name reflecting that village feeling and roll that Djillai and family play in the neighborhood.
